The name came from the abbreviation of the greek words “ygeia – loutra” or “geia-loutra” and ended up in “Yaltra”, thanks to the hot thermal waters that exist on the beach of Yaltra (Baths of Yaltra), with the same composition as those of Edipsos . Yaltra consists of the main village which is built at the foot of Mount Xirosouvala and of Loutra or baths which is located near a picturesque beach and a quiet small harbor with its lighthouse. The village offers an excellent view of the Euboean gulf and is known for its wine, which is produced and sold by the beautiful old stone winery Vryniotis. There you can enjoy your wine with a variety of cheeses and charcuterie.
Loutra is known for the hot thermal waters. In the 60s, a rudimentary hydrotherapy center was built there, which today is unfortunately abandoned in a bad state. But the hot springs
continue to pour into the sea, where a natural bathtub has been created in which you can enjoy the warm waters.
